Moarte the King of the Vampires was still recovering after been held captive by the Sapiens. Princess Valada born Sapien hated vampires, after one killed her mother, but when her father gave her to them as part of a deal to save his life, is this the chance that Moarte needs to seek his revenge and will Valada find out who killed her mother.
Todays market is flooded with fluffy vampire tales so when a book that shows the dark side comes along then it needs to be snapped up and read. Moarte was a good leader, strong, stubborn but did show constraint. As you learn what Valada did to him you could understand his anger. Valada was a Sapien version of him and at the start, you could sense the conflict when they collided. A calming influence was Belladonna, Moarte mom and she reminded me of a wise old lady, she would give her council freely and whilst her son ruled, she helped behind the scenes.
From page one you are drawn into the vampir world and whilst some of what they did was harsh, it is not till you read about the Sapiens life under King Zador that you realise who the evil ones are. The story will have you gripped as whilst you want to know if Moarte of Valada will kill each other, the lives of the other vampir are as interesting. This story is not for your regular erotica fans as some of the scenes were savage and if you get distressed with scenes of rape then this is not the book for you. However, these scenes helped tell Moarte and Valada’s story and I personally grew to like Valada once I understood what happened to her. This story captures the majority of emotions and you are taking on an exciting journey, the action is bloody and fierce. A good story that has got some great characters.

18 years after Revenge of the Vampir King, Moarte and Valada are now parents to Serena. Blinded by their love of her, they do not know what type of daughter she is. But they have a urgent mission and need her to grow up quickly and with help from Wolfsbane can she be the Princess that every ones wants.
From the moment I started this story I wanted to give Serena a good slapping, An obnoxious bratty irritating girl who because she was a princess treated everyone like dirt. Vampires and Sapiens despised her so when her parents needed her to grow up they did not know how hard it would be. Wolfsbane was well liked by all, but after losing his 1st love he took on the task of Serena as doing his duty, not realising how much hard work she will be. Wolfsbane whilst a character I recognised from book 1 became a main character and I loved learning more about his human life and admired his restraint with Serena.
I enjoyed this story more than the first one, although some of the scenes between Serena and the Sapien king and warriors were quite disturbing. Again this showed how evil the Sapiens were. The story flowed a lot a quicker as the vampires planned their attack. As the story continues I grew to like Serena and it felt that a switch clicked in her and she did come more mature. I read this book pretty quick as I wanted to know what happened, I was all set for a possible escape and it ended on a cliff-hanger. I hope I do not have to wait to long to find out if Serena is OK.
